Why is Demelza Hospice Care for Children our chosen charity?

When families are struggling to cope because their children have a serious or terminal condition, Demelza provides specialist care and support, bringing them back from breaking point. Everything Demelza does is focused on helping those who may not live a long life, to live a full life.

Demelza has hospices in South East London and Kent, and a homecare service in East Sussex providing tailored care to babies, children and young adults. Their supportive facilities, nurses, therapists and dedicated volunteers, give families the time and space to feel like families again.

Set up in 1994, Demelza Hospice Care for Children relies on community fundraising, corporate support and their retail shops, to raise 88% of the £10 million funding needed each year (figures from Demelza website, April 2021). At Alsford, we continue to focus our charity fundraising efforts on supporting this important facility.
