What is OSB 3?
OSB stands for Oriented Strand Board, an engineered wood made by compressing layers of wood strands in specific orientations. OSB 3 refers to a precision-engineered structural OSB sheet designed to perform well in humid conditions, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Key Features
OSB 3 is used for flooring, roofing, and sheathing, and meets BS EN 300 for ‘load-bearing boards for use in humid conditions’. Available in 9mm, 11mm, and 18mm thicknesses, it is easy to saw, drill, nail, plane, and sand allowing for close nailing without splitting.
Its ability to support load-bearing and challenging conditions, even in humid environments make it ideal for use in house building and other construction. Its smooth surface eliminates the need for sanding, even for applications like GRP roofing.
Environmental and Quality Certifications
OSB 3 is BBA-approved and contains zero-added formaldehyde, making it a more environmentally friendly choice. OSB 3 is Chain of Custody certified, made from sustainable timber grown in the UK, reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation.
In summary, OSB 3 is a high-performance, sustainable building product that offers precision, durability, and environmental benefits, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of construction needs.
