Originating in 1843 and founded by Frederick Stanley as the Stanley Works in New Britain, Connecticut, STANLEY has been a trusted name in tools for over 175 years. STANLEY began by manufacturing boxwood rules in 1854, and levels in 1957 before introducing hammers in 1863 and screwdrivers in 1870. In the 1900’s STANLEY continues to add to their tool offering with the introduction of the first STANLEY steel tape measure in 1931 and then the introduction of the STANLEY utility knives in 1936. Innovation and the development of new and exciting tools continue today, with their customer’s needs at the forefront of everything they do, STANLEY continues to develop excellent tools that improve workability for their consumers.
