More About Our Makita Products

History of Makita

Makita began in 1915 as Makita Denski Seisakusho and evolved into Makita Electric Works Ltd by 1938 after becoming a specialist in electric motors in 1935. By 1958 Makita had developed a hand-operated planer which was to be their first power tool. By 1978 Makita launched its first 7.2V battery drum and ushered in their first battery powered tool. Makita has continued with its dedication to innovation and putting consumer needs at the forefront of everything they do with the opening of their first factory service centre in 1017, dedicating themselves to providing training and offering repair facilities across the UK.

Manufacturing

Makita tools are manufactured in plants across the globe. In the UK, Makita is manufactured in Telford, which is the only full-production facility for power tools in the UK. Only the best materials are sourced in the production of tools at Makita, premium grade steel is used in the production of gears and shafts, and high grade magnetic copper wire is used to ensure superior current flow and an ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Each and every tool produced goes through rigorous quality control tests before it is released to the market.
